FACES OF DRUGS SCOURGE: These three men - David Cain, 41, of Brisbane; Blair Smith, 43, of Bundaberg; and Nathan Borg, 34, of Redcliffe - have spent years behind bars only to inexorably return to crime and addiction. Picture: Adam Head

THESE men's stories emphasise the key role played by bikie gangs in the manufacture and distribution of illegal drugs not just on the Gold Coast but throughout Queensland.

Now in rehabilitation or living with family, they have committed hundreds of crimes police don't even know about to support addictions to heroin, speed and cocaine.

One of them is a former bikie drug dealer who summed it up this way:

"Ninety-five per cent of crime is drug-related, at least. Even in the case of minute crimes - only $100 or something - it's usually going in some junkie's arm or going to a drug dealer. Then that money is going to another drug dealer. It's a vicious cycle."
